  • The Club’s expenses for January exceeded income by about $400.  The was mainly due to the purchase of a new refrigerator.

  • A $200 contribution was made in memory of recently deceased member Albert Luecke.

  • Joe was unable to attend. Roger and Dave brought up members issues.
  • The board approved two new members Ross Brown of Haddonfield and Andrew Moritz of Cherry Hill.
  • The approval of Ross allowed the elevation of John Geist, from Guest to Special Guest member.
  • This elevation occurred because the number of Haddonfield members increased as a percentage of total membership.

Trips/ Events – Bill Brown

  • Bill is waiting for SCUCS arrangement on a Phillies ballpark tour.

Friendship Committee – Henry Leimkuhler

  • Charles Legge had a pacemaker installed.

Old Business

  • Dave informed the directors the 65 Club had been reinstated as a Social Club for tax purposes. The club is classified as nonprofit organization not as a charity. This nonprofit imposes certain financial accounting procedures and regulations on the Club’s income.  The impact is when nonmembers participate in Club trips, they must make their payment to SCUCS and not the Club.  Details are obtainable from Dave Tarditi.
  • The board discussed what to do with the old refrigerator. Toss it or keep it.  Since one group is still using the old refrigerator and the new refrigerator is too small, both refrigerators will be kept in their current locations.
  • The video capabilities and equipment Al Schmidt has proposed will be discussed next month.
  • There was a discussion whether Zoom meetings for all members be continued. Some directors believe it discourages local members from attending the meeting.  However, Henry Leimkuhler pointed out many sick, older, or distant members also Zoom in. The board voted to continue Zoom.

New Business

  •  The Lions Club will host the Mayors Breakfast on Saturday March 19 at 9.00 am at the First Presbyterian Church. The Haddonfield Citizen of the year award will be presented. A Youth of the Year award will also be presented. Roger Jacobs’s grandson was one of four nominated for the award. The winner is an outstanding HMHS senior Madeleine Cush.
  • Mayor Collen Bianco Bezich organized a mayor’s volunteer committee which includes twenty-two organizations meeting on Zoom to discuss possible involvement and recruit volunteers.  The 65 Club participated in this meeting and will do so again on February 25.
  • The directors were informed the Haddonfield Commissioners are looking into reviving the Fall Festival and are looking for suggestions and recommendations from the Borough’s service organizations.
  • Al Schmidt asked about the club’s directory schedule.  Bernie Schaming informed him the directory will be printed in time for the spring luncheon in May.  The cut off point for dues payment and inclusion in the directory will be mid-April.
  • The spring luncheon will be held May 12 at Tavistock.  The performer has been booked.
  • Frank Lodge will supervise the Club 4th of July parade entry and is looking for suggestions.

The meeting adjourned at 11:10 AM.

Respectfully submitted,

Fred Willis, Secretary
