 The Board of Directors meeting of the Haddonfield 65 Club was held on Thursday January 7, 2021. The 65 Club clubhouse was closed due to the Corona virus shutdown. The meeting was conducted remotely using the Zoom program and was set up by Al Schmidt and Richard Bonnette.

President Bill Brown called the meeting to order at 10:00 AM.   Roll was called and eleven (11) board members, plus Al Schmidt and Doug Rauschenberger were on the call.

The secretary read the December minutes and the Directors approved the minutes as previously distributed and posted.

President’s Comments - Bill Brown

• Bill made his final comments as president.  Frank Lodge will assume the presidency next week at the business meeting.
• Bill discussed how he wanted to expand activities and membership during this past year and Covid affected his actions and results.  He noted the club had a high mortality rate for the year losing 7-8 members to deaths. He thanked Roger for finding eight (8) new members in this difficult environment.  While trips were cancelled and activities were reduced or went into hibernation, the club added chess and Tai Chi to its activities to begin when the clubhouse reopens.
• He thanked Bob Parsons for organizing the Fall luncheon at Tavistock and Al Schmidt for handling the Salvation Army Red Kettle fund raising. He informed us a cleaning service will clean the clubhouse once a month upon the clubhouse reopening..
• He thanked Rich Bonnette and Al Schmidt for setting up and operating Zoom which has kept the club going.  Organizations without Zoom are struggling far more than the 65 Club

Treasurers Report – Dave Tarditi

·        Dave informed the board of the following developments and expenditures.

• One hundred four (104) members have paid their dues for 2021. Two (2) new applicants have sent in their dues.
• There is a question of whether the clubhouse requires special cleaning for Covid after the lockdown ends. If it does, is that cost include in the budget?
• The 2021 budget was increased for $4,750 to $5,000.

·        The Directors approved the treasurers report.

Health & Welfare – Henry Leimkuhler

·        Henry reported on the following members.

• Jim Dunn had a hernia operation.
• Charles Legge is in quarantine.
• Don Beck and his wife haves contacted COVID-19, though neither has symptoms’.
• He will send a sympathy card to Bill Reynold’s family if he can find a relative and address.
• The Christmas cookies cost $231.

Membership – Roger Jacobs

• Roger reported the follow developments

• Roger thanked Dave for his assistance in tracking down unpaid members at the beginning of the year.
• Roger described contacting churches and organizations to mention the 65 Club.
• Roger described implementing `The Perfect Gift’ idea and how its description was published in five (5) local publications.  It has resulted in at least one new member.
• New club Trifolds, in color, describing the club, were printed

Speakers – Frank Lodge

• Frank informed the Directors the webpage has been updated through January with the correct speakers

Trips/ Events – Bill Brown

• Bill reported the following developments

• No trips are scheduled.
• Bowling and Bridge continue at reduced rates.
• Golf has ended its season and will resume in April.
• Pinocle remains suspended until the clubhouse is reopened.
• Chess and Tai Chi will begin when the clubhouse is open.

Old Business

• Bernie Schaming informed us no date has been set for updating the florescent lighting in the clubhouse.
• Club house Storm Doors
• The club has received a bid, $1,250, to install storm doors on the front and side entrances. Screens will be included and they will provide ventilation during summer. This is considered to be maintenance and does not require Borough approval.
• This expenditure is currently not in the budget but money is available. The money will be taken from the Trip fund.
• The Directors approved $1,250 to install two storm doors.

New Business

• Elmwood Hills Healthcare Center.
• The club has collected toiletries and socks as Christmas presents for resisdents of Elmwood Hills Heathcare Center.  For several years there have been problems having the center take delivery of the presents even when delivery arrangements have been made.  This year was no different, delivery required two trips and even then, it was difficult to have the presents accepted.
• The club feels these problems are unjustified and will begin looking for another place.
• Monthly Zoom Activity
• Frank presented a proposal for the club to have a monthly zoom activity which will be open to the general community. After considerable discussion the board approved the activity will occur on the second Thursday of the month after the Business meeting. A separate zoom link will be required for the activity.  If materials are required, they will be picked up the morning of the activity. Wives will be allowed to attend but not the general public.
• Frank will develop a committee to assist him and arrange for chocolate tasting near Valentine’s day.

• Roger asked the board to approve the following applicants for membership, Phil Ronkin, Joe Ligos and Joe Pugh.   The board approved the applicants.
