The Board of Directors meeting of the Haddonfield 65 Club was held on Thursday October 1, 2020. The 65 Club clubhouse was closed due to the Corona virus shutdown. The meeting was conducted remotely using the Zoom program and was set up by Al Schmidt and Richard Bonnette.
President Bill Brown called the meeting to order at 10:00 AM. Roll was called and eleven board members, plus
Al Schmidt were on the call.
The secretary read the September minutes and the Directors approved
the minutes as previously distributed and posted.
President’s Comments
- Bill Brown informed the Directors that the fall
luncheon at Tavistock was still on. It will be held indoors and seats were
still available.
- Bill also informed the Directors he was still
searching for a location for the November Wine and Cheese party. Holding the party at Christ the King Church
did not work out.
- The Salvation Army has requested volunteers for
an event in October. Several club members
have volunteer but the formal response must come though President Bill
Brown who verifies the volunteer is a member of the 65 club. This is necessary due to Salvation Army
insurance requirements
- Volunteers for the Salvation Army Red Kettle
Christmas drive are waiting for word whether this will be conducted this
year.
- Saul has started writing biographies of recent
new members which are being posted in the monthly newsletter. His second bio was on Frank Lodge.
- One hundred club Christmas cards were printed. These will be sent to distant club members
who are unable to attend meetings. The card cost was $44 per hundred.
Treasurers Report
· Treasurer Dave Tarditi was unable to
attend, however he sent out the financial statement this week for review. The only
significant expenditure was for a new five-year battery for the club defibrillator. The cost was $158. The existing battery life ends in two weeks.
· The Directors approved the treasurers
report.
Health
& Welfare
· Henry Leimkuhler and other club members reported
on the following members.
- Charles Legge is in rehab following his hip replacement
- Dan Colunbi is doing well
- John Marchesani is moving about with a walker
and wheel chair.
- Don Beck was still in a lockdown and
has suffered a crack in his hip.
- Courtney Malcarney is doing well
after a hernia operation.
Membership
· Roger Jacobs sent the last `Hello’ letter
to the two members who did not rejoin the club this year. If they return their dues
it will be credited to 2021.
· Roger informed us the virus is affecting
the club’s ability to be listed on church websites. It appears the minsters and
church boards are too busy working on virus issues than to discuss the feasibility
of identifying the club on their website. Roger will contact the churches again
in the future.
Speakers
- Frank Lodge informed the Directors
the speakers identified on the club’s website are correct and up to date.
Trips/
Events
- The October Stag Luncheon will be next Thursday and
held inside at Tavistock. See notes under president’s comments
- The November Wine and Cheese party is still scheduled
if a venue can be found. See notes
under President’s Comments
- The December Christmas party is still scheduled
at the Methodist Church. Bill
verified with Tom Mervine the day, December 10, and location has been reserved.
- No trips have been scheduled for December.
- Bowling, Bridge and Golf continue at reduced
rates.
Old Business
- Bernie Schaming will investigate updating the
florescent lighting in the clubhouse.
This will require an electrician per the borough.
New Business
· Bernie has been in discussion with the Historical
Society of Haddonfield about suppling the HSH with club newsletters to help
preserve the club’s and Haddonfield history.
He has compiled the newsletter from 2010 and hope the HSH will accept flash
drive copies and not require paper copies.
· The nominating committee will begin identifying next
year’s officers in November.
Adjournment
The
meeting adjourned at 10:34 AM.
Respectfully submitted,
Fred
Willis, Secretary
