The Board of Directors meeting of the Haddonfield 65 Club was held
on Thursday June 4, 2020. The 65 Club clubhouse was closed due to the Corona virus
shutdown. The meeting was conducted remotely using the Zoom program and was set
up by Al Schmidt and Richard Bonnette.
Secretary Fred Willis was unable to attend because of a power outage
which began on Wednesday June 3 and continued through Thursday. The notes in these
minutes were taken by President Bill Brown and reworded by the secretary.
President Bill Brown called the meeting to order at 10:00 AM. Roll was called and seven board members, plus
Al Schmidt and Rich Bonnette, were on the call.
IN the absence of the secretary to read the May minutes the board approved
the minutes as previously distributed and posted.
Bill Brown informed the directors that Wednesday’s storm caused a
power outage and that several directors would be unable to attend the meeting because
of this. Beside the storm, Bill mentioned the rather stormy relations and rioting
that have been occurring between races.
Bill provided several additional suggestions for club activities
in the future. These include the following
Bingo
Shuffle board
Drawing
Chess
Backgammon
Yoga
Movies
Volunteering
Singing
Walking
There were no additional suggestions from the board.
Treasurers
Report
·
Treasurer
Dave Tarditi informed the BOD the club was still in good financial shape. A CD
was due to expire and suggested it be renewed for 1.5% at Colonial Bank. The board approved the renewal and the treasurers
report.
Welfare
- Henry Leimkuhler reported on the following members
- Dan Columbi was holding his own with his dialysis.
- Charles Legge was without power.
- Al Schmidt was being checked daily for the Coronavirus.
Membership
·
Roger
Jacobs reported he and Dave Tarditi, along with help from several other club members,
had reduced the nonpaying 2020 dues members to six. Some of these members had
moved out of state. To keep these members Roger suggested the regular meetings
be placed on Zoom in the future. Out of
town or state members could then `attend’ the meetings.
· Bill Brown suggested we contact the black churches in Haddonfield in
addition to the three churches where members had placed our trifold Club
literature.
Roger compiled a list of all Haddonfield churches including
addresses and telephone numbers.
At the membership meeting, he will ask for volunteers to
contact the churches for the purpose of delivering and displaying the
Club's literature.
Speakers
- Frank Lodge was unable to attend
due to the power shortage. Bill thanked Frank for the great job he
has been doing this year. Our guest speaker for today was informed that we
may not have the normal number of members present due to the storm.
Trips/
Events
- The following trips are still scheduled. Information
and signup information is available on the club website.
- Shofuso Japanese House Tour – 7/22 $35
- Phillies Game 8/24 $50
Old Business
- Spring Luncheon – has been combined with the October
8 Stag luncheon
- 4th of July Parade - Cancelled
- The Club annual directory will not be published this year.
- The BOD voted in May to reimburse Rick Bonnette $15
a month to cover the Zoom cost. Rick
declined the payment since he supports several other larger organizations
with Zoom support.
New Business
- Rick suggested that next week’s meeting be
in the yard behind the clubhouse. Members
would bring lawn chairs, laptops and maintain current social distance
requirements. Other members could join on line. He will check into it.
- Al Schmidt informed the BOD that there
will be a Saturday morning online speaker at his church with the topic
being the Electoral College, good or bad
·
The meeting adjourned
at 10:33 AM.
Respectfully submitted,
Fred
Willis, Secretary
