March, 2020

The Board of Directors meeting of the Haddonfield 65 Club was held on Thursday March 5, 2020. President Bill Brown called the meeting to order at 10 AM. Roll was called and 13 members were present.
Fred. Willis read the board meeting minutes from February 6, 2020. The minutes were approved as read with one modification.
President Bill Brown gave a short commentary on his management style which is contained in the statement, `nothing gets done unless you act’.

Treasurers Report

·         Treasurer Dave Tarditi provided a detailed financial statement of the club’s finances and told us we were in good financial shape.
·         About thirty-five (35) members have not paid dues for 2020, as of March 5.  Seven board members divided up the thirty-five members and will call them to remind them to pay their dues.  The seven board members are Jim Dunn, Roger Jacobs, Howard Rementer, Warren Reintzel, Dave Tarditi, Henry Leimkuhler and Frank Lodge.
·         The Treasurers Report was approved as presented.
Membership
·         Mark Brill submitted his membership application and dues.  His membership application was reviewed and approved by the board.
·         Roger reported he is looking for contacts are the local churches to request permission to leave 65 club Trifold brochures at the churches.  The Trifold brochure is the primary paper form the club uses for advertising. Once he has a contact Roger will request permission and leave Trifold’s at the churches.
Speakers
  • Frank reported the speaker list is currently filled through May.  Some of the upcoming speakers include the newest Haddonfield commissioner, a report from the Indian Springs Tavern and an Alzheimer researcher
Trips/ Events
  • Bill Brown reported the Simeone Auto Museum on March 25 has twenty attendees.  The trip bus will be Haddonfield school bus which is cheaper than other buses.  Bill is concerned though the half of the attendees are non-club members.  While non-club members are welcomed and desired it is preferable that a majority of attendees are club members. There was a brief discussion that non-members could be contacts for new members.
  • Trip advertising will be expanded from local publications “Today” and “The Haddonfield Sun” to include The Retrospect
  • Information on the following planned trips will be supplied later.
    • Barnes Foundation – 4/15
    • Phillies Ball Park Tour - 6/30
    • Shofuso Japanese House Tour – 7/22
    • Phillies Game 8/24
  • Spring Luncheon – May 14.
    • Frank reported the Camden County Parks commission will provide a two-person band to provide the entertainment at the spring luncheon.
  • 4th of July Parade
    • There was no report on the Parade

Old Business

  • Cleaning
    • The board approved a bi-monthly (two week) cleaning schedule.
    • One cleaning service submitted a proposal of $80 for the first cleaning and $70 for all subsequent cleanings.
    • The board requested a second proposal for comparison purposes. Bill will contact a friend of his whose daughter provides cleaning services.
    • The board will evaluate the proposals and decide on a service at the April meeting.
  • General maintenance and repair.
    • The board had several discussions of necessary repairs, desired repairs and improvements to maintain and improve the club house comfort level.  Some of the items discussed were windows, doors, lighting and rugs.  The desirability and feasibility of any change is still in the discussion and very early evaluation stage.  As the board comes to decisions these will be reported.  Any suggestions or comments from the membership are welcomed.

New Business

·         Bill reported he has been in contact with club member Jack Poupard about conducting a weekly class on Tai Chi at the club house.  Jack will make a presentation on Tai Chi at the normal weekly meeting March 5
·         Bill has been in discussion with the Friends of the Indian King Tavern about the club supporting the IKT June  skirmish event. The board approved a $500 donation to the IKT to sponsor the Yelling Contest. The club will receive public notice for its sponsorship and the contribution will be used to purchase a Town Crier uniform for future events.
·         Bernie inform the board the by-law changes approved at the February 13 membership meeting must still be printed.
·         The meeting adjourned at 10:50 AM.

Respectfully submitted,
Fred Willis, Secretary
