Treasurers
Report
·
Treasurer
Dave Tarditi provided a detailed financial statement of the club’s finances and
told us we were in good financial shape.
·
The 2020
budget was revised downward by $200 from the 2019 budget because in $2019 the
club received an unexpected gift of $200.
·
Eighty-one
(81) members have paid dues for 2020, as of February 5. This is one half of the club’s membership.
·
After some discussion
the board decided to send out another dues remainder within a week. At some
time in the near future phone calls will be made to members to personally remind
them.
·
The
treasurers report was approved as presented.
·
Howard Rementer identified
the club’s annual budget is about $5000 and the treasury held about
$20,000. Howard asked if there was some contribution
the club could make to help make Haddonfield more pleasant. This initated a discussion among board members
with various suggestions. The club’s
meeting house requires various repairs. There were suggestions the club obtained
estimates for repairs. The club will determine
which are necessary and affordable and present them to the borough for
permission for the club to perform. The most
popular suggestion was the club retain a cleaning company to keep the house clean
and to relieve current members from performing the cleaning. John Cokos volunteered to obtain pricing from
a cleaning company.
Membership
·
The new
member mentioned in the January meeting provided his membership application.
·
The club
makes a memorial contribution in the name of a deceased member to a charity of
the members choice. The board approved
an increase in the contribution from $25 to $50.
·
The board
discussed various ways to attract new members.
All concurred that personal invitations and contact was the most successful
method. However, to support the personal
contact, the club will advertise in local newspapers and possibly church
bulletisn and other public media to make people aware of the club’s existence. These
methods will be used provided there is no cost to the club.
·
The fall
Wine and Cheese party is currently the primary meeting to present the club to
prospective members
·
The club
received three membership applications in the past month. The board approved
the three applications which had one Haddonfield resident and two non-Haddonfield
residents who became guest members
Speakers
- There was no report on speakers
Trips/
Events
·
Bill
Brown presented a list of five proposed trips. These were
- Simeone Auto Museum – 3/25
- Barnes Foundation – 4/15
- Phillies Ball Park Tour - 6/30
- Shofuso Japanese House Tour – 7/22
- Phillies Game 8/24
- Additional information on each tour will be provided
later.
- Spring Luncheon – May 14.
- The board discussed entertainment for the Spring
Luncheon. Frank lodge informed us Tom Diemer offered to speak on the work
performed at and history of the Indian King Tavern and to invite town
criers for demonstration. John
Cokos suggested a Magician. Both
John and Frank will investigate these ideas for cost. However, it was
pointed out traditionally the spring luncheon venue is entertainment and
preferably music. Additional performance
suggestions are requested.
- 4th of July Parade
- Frank made two suggestions for topics. Before 1920 Haddonfield was predominantly
farms which were sold and broken into the current neighborhood areas. The farms and resulting areas farms would
be identified
- The second suggestion was to identify Haddonfield
residents who went on to high athletic performances such as professional teams
or the Olympics.
- No decision was made at the meeting though farms
seemed to have more interest.
