The board of directors meeting of the Haddonfield 65 Club
was held on Thursday May 7, 2015. President Kille called the meeting to order
at 10 AM. Roll was called and 10 members were present.
The secretary read the board meeting minutes from April 2,
2015. The minutes were approved as read.
Walt Baker gave the treasurers report and it was approved
for audit. Walt reported that we lost 5 members this year due to resignations.
Presidents Items
· Bill Brown reported that the
club lost close to $300 on the casino trip. This was the poorest attended trip in
memory. He also reported that the trip to the flying Fish brewery in Somerdale
was very good. Nine people showed up for that trip. The part-owner who was the
tour guide agreed to talk to the club at some later date.
· Bill and Neil Wise visited the
Air Mobility Museum in Dover Delaware as preparation for promoting a bus trip
to that location. They were impressed with the tour and will investigate
interest in such a trip on June 23.
· Bill also reported that his ad
in the local newspaper as part of a membership drive has not appeared yet. He
was assured by the paper that it would appear this week or next.
· Membership chairman Henry
Leimkuhler reported no new member so far this year.
Old Business
· President Kille requested
information on the 4th of July parade. Bernie Schaming reported that
the names of committee volunteers were given to Chairman Mike Underwood but no
meeting has been scheduled. Charles Legge reported that Champ Goldie has agreed
to participate with the 65 Club in the event.
· Bob Parsons reported that the
Spring Luncheon is all set. He anticipates between 75 and 80 people will
attend. After considering the
constraints on Julia Chen’s time, it was decided that we would have her play
immediately after being seated for lunch and delay service for 10 minutes. This
will provide a quiet atmosphere and allow their timely return to school. Bill Brown reported that the video is not complete
but assured the board that it will be ready for the luncheon.
· Bernie Schaming announced that
the directory has been reproduced and is ready for assembly. The books will be
available in time for the spring luncheon.
New Business
· Henry raised the
possibility of having a pig roast as a possible recruiting event. After some
discussion it was concluded that fall would be a good time to hold such an
event. However, it is not too early to begin sampling the membership to
determine if there is sufficient interest to warrant the effort involved.
·
Charles Legge suggested having a picnic in the summer either before or after a
business meeting. We have had such events before and they have been successful.
The meeting adjourned at 10:50Aam.
Respectfully submitted,
Bernie Schaming, Secretary
