The board of directors meeting of the Haddonfield 65 Club was held
on Thursday November 2, 2017. President Henry Leimkuhler called the meeting to
order at 10 AM. Roll was called and 13 members were present.
The secretary read the board meeting minutes from October 5, 2017.
The minutes were approved as read.
Dave Tarditi gave the treasurers report
and it was approved for audit. A discussion ensued about how to spend some of
the money in the treasury. Ideas ranged from increasing the scholarship to free
trips. The discussion was tabled until subsequent meetings.
Membership
The board approved Brian Kelly and
Dewaine Osman as a new members in the club and approved Bill Hoffman as a new
guest member.
Trips
· The next trip
will be to the Revolutionary Way Museum in Philadelphia on November 14th.
The school bus will leave the Pub at 10 AM sharp. Currently there are 64 people
signed up for this trip. Bill Brown has made arrangements for additional
transportation since the school bus only holds 50 people. Signup for the
December 5th trip to the Tropicana in Atlantic City for the Holiday
Jubilee show is underway. The trip will include slot play, buffet and show for
$47, with a 10AM departure from Wedgwood swim club.
Old Business
· Ron Howley made
an appeal for marshals for the Haddon Township Diabetes 5K Run. We need about
30 marshals for this event which is more than we have needed in the past. We
will meet at 8am at the club to receive street assignments and depart from
there. T-shirts and yellow vests will be provided to the marshals. After the
race we will return the vests to the clubhouse. Bud Pusatere reported that P.J.
Whelihans will provide breakfast after the event for anyone participating. Bud
has arranged for parking at the bank.
· Henry
Leimkuhler reported that one of the new members was recruited at the Fall
Festival.
· The Wine
& Chees Party is all set for November 4th at 7pm. Member
contributions of an appetizer or dessert would be greatly appreciated. The cost
will remain $5 per person for members and spouses. Members are encouraged to
bring potential members as guests to the event.
· Al Schmidt
reported that speakers are set thru Feb 1, 2018. He will meet with Jay Cokos
and pass off all the information he has including leads for additional
speakers.
New Business
· The new
bottle/wine openers have arrived as an alternative token of appreciation for
guest speakers.
· Mike
Underwood reported that the Historical Society will have a WW I exhibit open
Mon, Wed & Fri from November 5th to Dec 1st. High
school students have done considerable research on the names on the WW I
memorial for this event.
· Henry
reported that the Fortnightly is sponsoring a luncheon at Tavistock on November
11th with will include a presentation on Eleanor Roosevelt. All are
welcome at the event.
