The board of directors meeting of the Haddonfield 65 Club
was held on Thursday July 6, 2017. President Henry Leimkuhler called the
meeting to order at 10 AM. Roll was called and 12 members were present.
The secretary read the board meeting minutes from June 1,
2017. The minutes were approved as read.
Walt Baker gave the treasurers
report and it was approved for audit. The board thanked Walt
with a round of applause for his long service to the club.
Membership
There were no new members this month.
Trips
· Bill
reported that the trip to the Tropicana Casino on August 29th
already has some people signed up. The cost will be $45 which includes $15 in
slot play, lunch and the show. Bill also
reported that Safety Bus refunded the club in the amount of $400 for the
inconvenience on the Phillies trip and promised that they would provide one of
their new buses in the future. In spite of the bus problem, the Phillies trip
was a big success. Bill received 4 tickets from the Phillies for acting as
group leader for the game on July 28th vs the Houston Astros . The
tickets will be auctioned off at a meeting.
Old Business
· Henry
indicated that he plans to put a second coat of paint on the windowsills when
hehas a chance.
· Mike
Underwood that the 4th of July parade was a success. We had 21
members turn out for the march. Mike thanked all those who participated and
made the effort a success. It was noted that the new hats were a big hit.
·
Bill Brown announced that the Borough had the ant problem taken care of and we
don’t seem to have any more problem. He also thanked people for supporting the
Japan Exchange Sake & Sushi night with their attendance and/or donations.
New Business
· President
Leimkuhler initiated a discussion on rides for people who may need assistance
getting to activities, especially ourThursday meetings. After discussion it was
agreed that we should put something in the newsletter, along with a contact.
Henry agreed to be the contact person.
· Al Schmidt
requested the board’s input on inviting someone from the Altzheimer association
to speak at the club. The board agreed that this would be a good topic for a Thursday
meeting speaker.
· Bill Brown reported that he was
contacted by someone in Collingswood regarding pinochle. The gentleman was
invited to come to Wednesday pinochle and he plans to attend.
· Al Schmidt indicated that it
istime to be thinking about a speaker for the Fall Luncheon. A number of
suggestions were made and will be contacted.
The meeting adjourned at 11:00AM.
