October, 2017

The board of directors meeting of the Haddonfield 65 Club was held on Thursday September 7, 2017. President Henry Leimkuhler called the meeting to order at 10 AM. Roll was called and 7 members were present.
The secretary read the board meeting minutes from October 5, 2017. The minutes were approved as read.
In the treasurer’s absence, his report was distributed and discussed. It was noted that thee YTD cash jar receipts was missing.

Membership

The board approved George Spellmeyer as a new member in the club.

Trips

· The next trip will be to the Revolutionary Way Museum in Philadelphia on November 14th. The school bus will leave the Pub at 10 AM sharp. On December 5th we will have a trip to the Tropicana in Atlantic City for the Holiday Jubilee show. The trip will include slot play, buffet and show for $47, with a 10AM departure from Wedgwood swim club.

Old Business

· The fall luncheon will be held on October 12th and the Fall Festival on October 14th. Al Schmidt, Bill Brown and Henry Leimkuhler will man the table.
· The Wine & Chees Party is set for November 4th from 7 to 9 pm. Bill Brown and Al Schmidt will coordinate arrangements. After discussion it was concluded that the cost will remain $5 per person for members and spouses.
· Jay Cokos presented the board with some suggestions to improve the flea market activity. The suggestions included the purchasing of a tent with the club name to provide some shade. The tent would also be used for the Fall Festival. Other suggestions include some type of rack, which could be borrowed, for linens which we have not displayed well; having committed sign-up for clean-up and breakdown; and additional help for packing up and delivering items to the market. All good suggestions.

New Business

· Ron Howley reported that the 5K Heart Run has been cancelled. However, Ron indicated that Bud Pusatere has been involved in the Haddon Township diabetes run and their biggest problem is obtaining marshals for the event. After discussion it was decided that the club offer to provide marshals this year for the event which is held the Saturday after Thanksgiving. In addition, Ron will investigate the club’s getting involved with the Heart Association to determine what is involved for the club to take over and re-initiate the 5K Heart Run. Bernie will send email notifying members that the 5K Heart Run is cancelled this year and that we will likely be involved with the Haddon Township Diabetes Run instead.
· Bill Brown showed a new item to give male speakers as a token of appreciation instead of a pen. The item is a bottle opener, corkscrew combination imprinted with the club name. A motion was made and passed “To purchase 50 of the combination bottle opener corkscrews”.
· Bill also reported that he plans to restart the movie night this fall. The exact date has not been set. He also suggested starting a lending library for DVDs at the club. This would be very informal. Members could borrow a DVD and return it to the club when finished with it.
· In addition, Bill indicated that the Salvation Army is again looking for volunteers for manning the Christmas kettles this Christmas season. After discussion the board approved the clubs manning of the kettle at the Acme for 1 day. Bill will select a day in conjunction with the Salvation Army.

September, 2017

The board of directors meeting of the Haddonfield 65 Club was held on Thursday Spetember 7, 2017. President Henry Leimkuhler called the meeting to order at 10 AM. Roll was called and 7 members were present.
The secretary read the board meeting minutes from August 3, 2017. The minutes were approved as read.
Dave Tarditi gave the treasurers report and it was approved for audit. Dave indicated that he was moving a CD from Republic Bank to 1st Colonial Bank. The new rate will be 1.75% compared to 0.8% at Republic Bank.

Membership

The board approved Dennis Deal as a new guest member in the club.

Trips

· The recent trip to the Tropicana was successful and all had a great time. The club made $141 on the trip.

Old Business

· The Wine & Chees Party is set for November 4th from 7 to 9 pm.
· Bill Brown checked on lanyards for the badges and had a sample to show the board. It would have the club name on it and the cost would be $1.37 each. The down side is the minimum order is 150 units. We will continue to check on other options.
· Bernie Schaming reported that we are all set for the flea market. Mike Underwood will again help transport items from the club to the flea market and Al Schmidt and Jack Aharon will get the tables from the Legion and any remaining items from the club.

New Business

· Al Schmidt printed a number of brochures. He suggested that we consider updating the pictures used in the brochure.
· There was discussion regarding the appearance of the front lawn. After discussion, it was concluded that it really needs to be completely redone if we want decent grass. No decision was made regarding this issue.

August, 2017

The board of directors meeting of the Haddonfield 65 Club was held on Thursday August 3, 2017. President Henry Leimkuhler called the meeting to order at 10 AM. Roll was called and 7 members were present.
The secretary read the board meeting minutes from July 6, 2017. The minutes were approved as read.
Dave Tarditi gave the treasurers report and it was approved for audit. We have a CD coming due August 8 and Dave will check different banks to obtain the best rate for the rollover.

Membership

There were two new guest members approved this month, Frank Barone and Jerry Tarr. Jay Cokos indicated that he is pursuing a number of people for possible membership in the fall.

Trips

· Sign-ups for the August casino trip are going well. We currently have 40+ people signed up but not all have paid yet.

Old Business

· Henry indicated that he still plans to put a second coat of paint on the windowsills. The board set the date of September 21st to do a detailed indoor cleanup. Another date will be picked in October for the fall outdoor cleanup.
· Al Schmidt reported that Paul Wiederman has agreed to be the speaker for the fall luncheon at Tavistock.

New Business

· Bernie Schaming reported that Bill Brown was able to get our ariticle in the local papers and we have already had calls from two people to pick up items for the flea market.
· It was noted that the ants are back. They were smart enough to wait until the treatment warranty expired before they returned.
· It was reported that Walt Baker has a bone chip in his foot and is confined to his condo for two weeks.

Directors Meeting - July

The board of directors meeting of the Haddonfield 65 Club was held on Thursday July 6, 2017. President Henry Leimkuhler called the meeting to order at 10 AM. Roll was called and 12 members were present.
The secretary read the board meeting minutes from June 1, 2017. The minutes were approved as read.
Walt Baker gave the treasurers report and it was approved for audit. The board thanked Walt with a round of applause for his long service to the club.

Membership

There were no new members this month.

Trips

· Bill reported that the trip to the Tropicana Casino on August 29th already has some people signed up. The cost will be $45 which includes $15 in slot play, lunch and the show.  Bill also reported that Safety Bus refunded the club in the amount of $400 for the inconvenience on the Phillies trip and promised that they would provide one of their new buses in the future. In spite of the bus problem, the Phillies trip was a big success. Bill received 4 tickets from the Phillies for acting as group leader for the game on July 28th vs the Houston Astros . The tickets will be auctioned off at a meeting.

Old Business

· Henry indicated that he plans to put a second coat of paint on the windowsills when hehas a chance.
· Mike Underwood that the 4th of July parade was a success. We had 21 members turn out for the march. Mike thanked all those who participated and made the effort a success. It was noted that the new hats were a big hit.
· Bill Brown announced that the Borough had the ant problem taken care of and we don’t seem to have any more problem. He also thanked people for supporting the Japan Exchange Sake & Sushi night with their attendance and/or donations.

New Business

· President Leimkuhler initiated a discussion on rides for people who may need assistance getting to activities, especially ourThursday meetings. After discussion it was agreed that we should put something in the newsletter, along with a contact. Henry agreed to be the contact person.
· Al Schmidt requested the board’s input on inviting someone from the Altzheimer association to speak at the club. The board agreed that this would be a good topic for a Thursday meeting speaker.
· Bill Brown reported that he was contacted by someone in Collingswood regarding pinochle. The gentleman was invited to come to Wednesday pinochle and he plans to attend.
· Al Schmidt indicated that it istime to be thinking about a speaker for the Fall Luncheon. A number of suggestions were made and will be contacted.

Directors Meeting - June

June, 2017
The board of directors meeting of the Haddonfield 65 Club was held on Thursday June 1, 2017. President Henry Leimkuhler called the meeting to order at 10 AM. Roll was called and 12 members were present.
The secretary read the board meeting minutes from May 4, 2017. The minutes were approved as read.
Walt Baker gave the treasurers report and it was approved for audit. Walt noted that he received another outrageous bill from PSE&G. After discussing with PSE&G, they agreed to replace our meter on July 6th with a new digital meter that will not require reading since they can’t seem to read it correctly. Walt suggested that we do some pruning to have better access to the meter.
In addition, Walt announced that Dave Tarditi has agreed to take over the Treasurer’s job on July 1. Walt agreed to remain involved as assistant treasurer.

Membership

There were three new members this month. Kurt Breaney is a new regular member and Abe Ferdas and Bob Smolski are guest members.  After discussion, it was decided that the current non-resident membership should remain at 15%.

Trips

· Bill reported that he is in the process of scheduling a trip to the Tropicana Casino for August 29th if possible. The cost will be $45 which includes $15 in slot play, lunch and the show.

Old Business

· Bill Brown reported that he has cancelled the Wednesday night movies due to lack of attendance. He will consider starting up again in the fall.
· Henry thanked all those who helped make the Spring Luncheon a big success.
· Mike Underwood reported that he will host a 4th of July committee meeting after this board meeting.
· Bill Brown agreed to purchase new hats with the club logo on them. He will place an order so that we have them in time for the parade. Bernie will provide the club logo in the same format as we used for the aprons.

New Business

· A Schmidt reported that the speaker from the Chapel of the Four Chaplains suggested we make a donation to anew memorial being constructed. After discussion, a motion was made and passed “that on the day of his talk, we propose that the cash jar proceeds from that day be donated for this purpose”.
· Bill Brown announced that the Japan Exchange is holding their sake and sushi night on Saturday, June 4th, at the Grace Episcopal Church.
· Bill also agreed to contact the Borough regarding the problem with ants to see if we can get the building sprayed.
· Henry initiated a discussion regarding increasing dues to offset the cost of any upgrades to the building that we might want to do. The board concluded that their was insufficient upcoming needs to warrant increasing the dues. Henry indicated that he was willing to paint the exterior.

Directors Meeting - May

The board of directors meeting of the Haddonfield 65 Club was held on Thursday May 4, 2017. President Henry Leimkuhler called the meeting to order at 10 AM. Roll was called and 11 members were present.
The secretary read the board meeting minutes from April 6, 2017. The minutes were approved as read.
Walt Baker gave the treasurers report and it was approved for audit. When all was said and done, two members have resigned their membership. Walt also indicated that he has not received a bill for the material purchased for the outside cleanup.

Membership

There were no new members this month.

Trips

· Bill reported that the fishing trip is at the b reakeven point. Any additional participation will be a bonus. He also updated the status of Phillies game, on June 20. We are halfway to the breakeven point for this trip.

Old Business

· Al Schmidt reported that we do have a room reservation for the wine & cheese party in November.
· Henry indicated that the arrangements for the Ladies Spring Luncheon are all set.
· Ron Howley suggested that we should have a follow-up outside cleanup event in the fall to address the sides and back of the club. Bernie reported that Neal Tully purchased and replaced three more azaleas in the front.
· Mike Underwood indicated that he will arrange a 4th of July committee soon to get things started for the parade preparation. Bernie will generate a calling list for the committee.
· Bill Brown has received a sample hat for consideration to replace the skimmers used for the parade. John Cokos indicated that he has two other sources that he will contact and get estimates. Bernie requested that he also get information regarding the digital format required for the logo.

New Business

· Bill Brown announced that Boscovs has a sale on K-cup coffee this week. The notice will be passed on to Bud for consideration. Bill also presented a small book on the construction of the Kroc center which he was given when he dropped off books at the center.
· There was a discussion regarding another training session for the defibrillator which we have at the club. Walt indicated that to properly use the device, you should also be trained in CPR. Although the defibrilator training could be done at a regular Thursday meeting, the CPR training is more extensive and would best be provided in a separate meeting for those interested in the training. . Walt will discuss the issue with Neal Tully and Al Schmidt and propose atheir recommended action.

Directors Meeting - April

The board of directors meeting of the Haddonfield 65 Club was held on Thursday April 6, 2017. President Henry Leimkuhler called the meeting to order at 10 AM. Roll was called and 12 members were present.
The secretary read the board meeting minutes from March 2, 2017. The minutes were approved as read.
Walt Baker gave the treasurers report and it was approved for audit Walt indicated that five members did not plan to continue their membership, all from Haddonfield. There was some discussion on how to increase our membership. The board felt that a meeting with the commissioners, privately to discuss expanding our 15% quota to 20% would be in order.
Audit committee submitted their report and a motion was made to accept. It was unanimously accepted.

Membership

Four new members were voted in, all from Haddonfield.

Trips

· The Ellis Island Statue of Liberty trip was deemed a success, in spite of a fuel problem with the bus. A different restaurant was tried for our meal, The Town and Country, which received high ratings for quality as well as quantity. Everyone took a doggy bag home. The tour coordinator was thanked for a successful trip.     Bill also updated the status of the fishing trip, on June 6 and the Phillies game, on June 20.

Old Business

· A report on Feed Our Starving Children was made, and a record setting one million meals were prepared.
·Bob Parsons reported that the spring luncheon was set, the price of the tickets are $30.00 per person. Al Schmidt confirmed that the entertainment was set. Bernie will send invitations to guests for lunch.
·The board was reminded that after the April 12 business meeting, there will be a clean up of the grounds and members were reminded to bring tools for this project. Neal Tully will coordinate the project.
· The Wednesday night movies were discussed and Bill thanked Tom Mervine for taking over while he was away.

New Business

· Mike Underwood reported that there were 28 for the opening day of golf, congratulations Mike for getting the program started this year.
· There was discussion on how the club could provide more service to the community, there was a review of the things that we currently do and activities that we participate in. No real suggestion for added activities were made at this time.
· President Henry Leimkuhler donated a one cup automatic coffee maker and the board agreed that it was a nice addition to our kitchen. The refreshment committee was asked to purchase additional coffee supplies.
