 Haddonfield 65 Club

Board of Directors Meeting

December 7, 2023

The Board of Directors meeting of the Haddonfield 65 Club was held on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at the Club House

President David Tarditi called the meeting to order at 10:00 AM. He then led the Board of Directors in the Pledge of Allegiance and a prayer requesting concern and support to those members and their families facing health issues and unfortunate events.

The Assistant Secretary made a board member roll call, and all board members were present.

The October Board meeting minutes, which had been distributed and posted before the meeting, were approved by the Directors.

President’s Report

Request for suggestions for a new Second Vice President and for Directors to identify candidates and approach them for the position. Discussion ensued regarding optional approaches. Suggestions were made and agreed upon that board members who had served in VP roles discuss candidate qualities and develop an agreed-upon selection of candidates.

President Tarditi requested that a selection be made before year-end.

A related discussion ensued regarding the Club’s past membership qualification requirement of Haddonfield residents, led by Bernie Shaming. Bernie reviewed his discussions with Haddonfield Commissioners while he was Secretary of 65 Club and their willingness to accept a limit of 15% of the membership not being Haddonfield residents.

He then suggested that the Club be more judicious in deciding how to move people to more active membership—also suggested that the Board consider making 11 activities for special members. Recognition that recruiting in Haddonfield is difficult.

Current membership: Regular members – 136 / Special members-20 (14.7%)

David Tarditi suggested that the nominating committee make a recommendation.

Bernie Shaming proposed that the Nominating Committee approach 11 members to see who the potential candidates for the VP position are.

Al Schmidt advocated flexibility in this effort and verbally agreed upon it.

A final suggestion, which was also supported, is that the Committee select from the Most Active members rather than the length of membership.

Treasurers Report-Hank Zaleski

The Treasurer's Report had been previously sent and circulated to Board members.

The Club's financial condition is expected monthly at this time of year.

The wine and Cheese event was under budget. The upcoming Receipts for The Christmas luncheon at Tavistock will be between $2,000 and $2,500. Current registration is at $2,000.00

Membership dues: “We have a long way to go to reach full member dues payment.”

Treasure predicts that the Club will have a balanced budget for 2023 at year-end.

President Tarditi asked for comments. Both the December, and the 2024 Budget were discussed and approved by the Board.
