The Board of Directors meeting of the Haddonfield 65 Club was held on Thursday April 6, 2023. The meeting was held in the 65 Club clubhouse.
President David Tarditi called the meeting to order at 10:00 AM. Dave
Tarditi led the directors in the Pledge of Allegiance, singing of My Country T’is
of Thee and provided a prayer.
Roll was called and ten (10) board members were present. Dave Crawford was present as a guest to talk
about Urban Promise.
Minutes – Hank
Zaleski (aka Fred Willis)
- The March minutes, which had been distributed and
posted earlier, were approved by the Directors.
President’s Report
– David Tarditi
- New flag
- Dave suggested that the first person coming to
the building should ensure that the new flag is flying. When leaving, that
person should either take it down and put it against the bookshelf, or
emphasize to someone still there to be sure to stow the flag indoors, as
it is a rather vulnerable pluck by the public.
- Urban Promise

Dave
informed the Directors that Dave Crawford was here to discuss the contact with
Urban Promise
- The Mayor’s Monthly call – Dave reviewed some of
the topics he covered on the call to illustrate the Diversity and Inclusion
efforts of the 65 Club.
- Open House – Dave summarized the excellent
results of the Open House. 9 new regular members and 1 guest member have
joined as a result. A discussion about the New Member orientation protocol
occurred with Bernie reviewing what has happened in the past. The board
agreed that Bernie would send that protocol to Chuck Kanupke so that he
could re-institute this process with the newest members.
- Joe Galleria has speakers set up for the next 2
months. Joe was also elected to the NJ Athletic Directors Hall of Fame recently.
Treasurers Report
– Hank Zaleski
- Hank informed the Directors that he closed March’s books early
since he was away the last 2 weeks in March. The club had over $500 in receipts and
over $1000 in expenses in March
- 6 regular members have not yet paid their 2023 dues. Follow-up was
set up for 5 of them. One will be dropped from the club.
- A line item was created to track “new member activities”
so this can be budgeted for in the 2024 forecast.
Speakers – Joe Galliera-not
present
Dave reported earlier that Joe
has speakers set up for at least the next 2 months.
Membership – Chuck Kanupke-not
present
The following 10 new members
were approved: Steve Anderson, Bob Marshall, Howard Cohen, John O’Malley, Hank
Bauer, Greg Durhem, Lawrence Heck, Scott Buchheit, Dave Molyneaux, Stephen
Platt
Spring Luncheon - All
- The board discussed the agenda and the need to
send out a note to the membership reminding them of the Luncheon and
deadline for responding.
- Bernie will get directories prepared for
distribution at the luncheon.
- Hank will handle 50/50
- Hank will talk to Bill Brown about coordination
of registration table.
- The board also discussed the need to have a
luncheon coordinator for the future as this will be Bill’s last one and there
are many details that need to be dealt with for future luncheons.

New Business
- Bernie recommended ******** for the Bill
Hitchens Award for his long-time service to the Pinochle group. The
recommendation was unanimously approved. The award will be presented at
the Spring Luncheon.
- Doug Crawford gave a summary of the work done to
date with the Urban Promise Organization related to the Career Sharing
efforts. May 16th is the target date for a get together where
65 Club volunteers will share career possibilities and experiences with
the Urban Promise students.
