December, 2022

The Board of Directors meeting of the Haddonfield 65 Club was held on Thursday December 1, 2022. The meeting was held in the 65 Club clubhouse.

President Roger Jacobs called the meeting to order at 10:00 AM. Hank Zaleski took the minutes for Fred Willis who was on vacation.  Dave Tarditi led the directors in the Pledge of Allegiance and provided a prayer.

Roll was called and twelve (12) board members were present.

  • The November minutes, which had been distributed and posted earlier, were approved by the Directors.

 

President’s Report – Roger Jacobs

2023 Officers

  • Roger reviewed the slate of officers and board members proposed by the nominating committee as follows:

New Board of Directors for Three Years.

At year end, actually at the January 12, 2023 Business meeting, the current Directors for One Year will have completed the last year of their one-year term. Walter Baker will not be renewing a three-year Board of Directors term but will continue to be an important and active club member! Thank you, Walt for many years of service!

Howard Rementer confirmed that he will continue to serve on the 65 Club Board of Directors in 2023 for a new three-year term. Thank you, Butch!

Henry Leimkuhler will not be renewing a three-year Board of Directors term but has agreed to continue his excellent service as Chairman of the Friendship Committee. Thank you, Henry!

Immediate past president. Frank Lodge, has agreed to serve on the 65 Club Board of Directors in 2023 for a new three year term. Thank you, Frank!

Abraham (Abe) Ferda of Cherry Hill has agreed to serve on the 65 Club Board of Directors in 2023 for a new three-year term.  Thank you, Abe!

The 2023 Board of Directors for Three years will include Howard Rementer, Frank Lodge and Abe Ferdas.

The current 2022 Directors for Three years, Rich Carney, Jay Cokos and Tom Diemer, have agreed to a new term in 2023 as members of the Board for a Two-year term.

The current 2022 Directors for Two years, Tim Barnes, Bernie Schaming and Al Schmidt have agreed to a new term in 2023 as members of the Board for a One-year term.

As immediate past president, Roger Jacobs will be a member of the Board for One Year

Officers for 2023 are:

  • President: David Tarditi
  • 1st Vice President: Joseph Galliera
  • 2nd Vice President: William (Chuck) Kanupke.
  • Secretary: Fred Willis
  • Treasurer: Henry Zaleski.

All officers and Directors will be sworn in at the January 12, 2023 Business Meeting in the Clubhouse

Award

  • Roger reviewed a recommendation by Bill Brown to present Mike Underwood with the Bill Hitchens Award for his outstanding service to the 65 Club over the years. The recommendation was unanimously supported and approved. Bernie will get the Plaque updated so it can be presented to Mike at the Christmas Luncheon.

Borough Building Scheduling System

  • Bernie completed the initial scheduling of club events through year-end 2023. He tried scheduling it out for 10 years. However, the system could not accommodate this extension . Despite this, we still plan to be here for the next 10 years!

Historical Society

  • Roger reported that he is seeking senior members who might have information on former gas stations/auto dealers in Haddonfield for a pamphlet a committee is working on for the historical society

Treasurers Report – Hank Zaleski

  • The main receipt and expense item for November was the Wine and Cheese Party. As usual, Bill Brown managed the fees and costs so that the event was close to break even. The Treasurer’s November Report was approved by the board.
  • Assuming no surprises in December, the club’s operating income will exceed forecast and expenses will be below forecast for 2022.
  • The Operating Budget for 2023 was reviewed and approved. The balanced budget forecast for  2023 is $6400 in receipts and expenses.

Speakers – David Tarditi

  • Speakers are scheduled through December and into mid-January
  • See the Newsletter for the scheduled speakers.
  • Dave thanked everyone who was so helpful the past year in helping him find weekly speakers.

Membership – Joe Galliera

  • No new applications this month
  • The Turkey Trot was a success with 10 volunteers from the 65 Club.
  • The American Legion sponsored 5k run on December 10th was also discussed. It was agreed that the Club would volunteer to work that event this year and in future years.

Events

Christmas Party – Jay Cokos

  • The club’s Christmas party will be held on Thursday December 8 at the Methodist Church.
  • An unwrapped gift of socks or something similar is welcomed.  This will be given to the Salvation Army
  • Expecting 50-60 people
  • Song books, plates and food ordered

 Friendship Committee – Henry Leimkuhler

  • Henry is coordinating cookies and Christmas cards for homebound membersi

The meeting adjourned at 11:25 AM.
